This study examines how regular officers perceive reserve officers, based on the theoretical model of reservists as transmigrants (Lomsky-Feder et al., 2008). The empirical material consists of ten semi-structured interviews with regular officers within the Western Military Region, and the analysis is conducted using a theoretically driven thematic approach. The resultsindicatethat reserve officers are seen as a valuable resource in the wartime organization, but as secondary in the peacetime structure. Legitimacy and trust are not attributed to the reserve officer corps as a collective, but must be earned individually. The study also identifies organizational barriers such as unclear roles and administrative limitations which negatively affect the use of reserve officers
