This study examines how logistics officers in the Swedish Army manage fric-tion and uncertainty, which improvisation strategies enable continuous sup-ply, and what factors may limit sustainment in war. The analysis is based on qualitative interviews based on a purposive sampling of logistics officers for variation in function, experience and geographical service using an integrated perspective on individual, organizational and cultural factors. The focus is on the human and practical dimension, interpretations, decisions, and adaptation of routines, rather than technical systems or quantitative calculations. The study contributes to highlighting the strategies and practices that in real life maintain combat readiness and thus examines how individual experiences and organizational norms are translated into operational action.
