This study examines how intelligence analysts describe changes in their role in relation to the introduction of a Multi-Domain Operations (MDO) concept in the Swedish Armed Forces. Based on semi-structured interviews with eight senior intelligence professionals at military-strategic level, the study explores perceived changes in analytical work practices, competence requirements and inter-organizational cooperation. The analysis is based on organizational theory, primarily Mintzberg’s organizational configurations, and Bolman and Deal’s structural perspectives. The findings indicate that the analyst role is shifting from primarily individual, product-oriented analysis towards more integrated, process-oriented participation in operational decision-making. This transformation is driven not only by MDO, but also by technological development and Sweden’s NATO membership. The study contributes empirical insights on how intelligence functions must adapt to complex and multi-domain operational environments.
