Abstract [en]

ABSTRACT: This study explores the conceptual interoperability of air operations within the framework of alliance warfare, with a specific focus on Sweden, Finland, and Norway. It examines the essential conditions for effective joint air operations and delves into the challenges of achieving a unified operational understanding among these nations. Through a detailed analysis of strategic, operational, and conceptual dimensions of air power, the research highlights key factors that significantly influence the success or failure of collabo-rative air operations. Notable among these are doctrinal alignment, operational integration, and training coherence. Utilizing document analysis and qualitative content analysis, this study dissects relevant doctrinal texts to uncover the interplay of knowledge systems and interpretative frameworks that govern air operational doctrines across the studied countries. The findings not only fill critical knowledge gaps but also offer strategic insights for refin-ing air operational doctrines, enhancing regional defense capabilities, and strengthening in-ternational military cooperation within Nato. This study is particularly pertinent given the escalating geopolitical tensions in the region, underscoring the strategic necessity for en-hanced integrated defense mechanisms.
