Abstract [en]

In 2020, Peter Thunholm and Lars Henåker introduced a theoretical model comprising seven steps aimed at achieving organizational collapse of the opponent, thereby leading to victory. This model, designed to measure victory and guide tactical decision-makers, was further refined by Henåker in his dissertation, resulting in an eight-step model for tactical success. Subsequently, the Swedish Army incorporated this model into its latest tactical manual. With the introduction of this manual this study seeks to investigate the effects of this document on Swedish tactics by looking at a specified setting. Employing qualitative methods involving direct observations and semi-structured interviews, the research aims to offer a more relevant and contemporary understanding of the implementation effects on current Swedish maneuver warfare. Findings indicate that the initial four steps of the model are more frequently implemented than the subsequent ones. Additionally, the study highlights that Swedish tacticians understand and act according to tactical baselines rather than the manual itself.
