The purposes of this study are to create an understanding of implementation of a new pedagogy in educations within the Swedish defence forces by describing outcomes of an implementation and analyzing causes of the outcomes. Institutional theory an implementation literature are used in order to address these purposes. A case study design is used where implementation of a new pedagogy in education at the military academy is focused. The study shows that the implementation as a whole failed, and only minor changes was established. Lack of support from the regulative pillar in combination with strong normative and cognitive pillars appears to provide basis for understanding the outcomes of the implementation. Practical implications and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
