This thesis delves into how logistics has been included into strategic planning and its significant role in strengthening Sweden's defense capability. The thesis employs a qualitative case study approach and process tracing methodology combined with a ACF framework and identifies the extent to which strategic decision have influenced logistical considerations. By analyzing political debates, governmental documents, and historical data from 2009 to 2023, the study pinpoint key changes and challenges affecting the transformation of the Swedish defense logistics. The study identifies causal mechanisms driven by internal and external events, and their collaboration at the core of strategic planning to ensure robust military and civil preparedness. This thesis contributes to the academic discussion by applying the use of process tracking and a political framework to explain the political involvement in military logistics and offering insights for better implementation of logistical considerations into political decision making.
