With the ongoing developments in the space domain, this study has examined NATO's understanding of the current security environment in space. The study aimed to investigate how the space domain has been constructed and developed as a security issue within NATO. Drawing on securitization theory and elements of the WPR analysis, this study examines NATO's summits from 2018 to 2023, as well as NATO's space policy. The study has demonstrated how the issue has evolved from having a significant role to acquiring an existential value. At the same time, the study has shown that the space domain cannot be classified as an international security problem according to the Copenhagen School's criteria. However, the study has illustrated how the issue has become increasingly important, and it concludes that the issue lies in a gray area between a political question and a security issue.
