Since the tragic events in Ådalen 1931 there has been a broad Swedish political consensus not to use military troops for domestic policing which may include the use of force. In recent years some representatives from the Swedish government have argued that this restriction is obsolete and that we need to examine the possibilities of using the armed forces for policing again. This study aims to examine the discourse regarding the political representation of the need for this, using a modified version of Carol Bacchis WPR-method. The analysis shows that the armed forces is mainly represented as a resource to the police, and that it´s supposed to support with vaguely described tasks as protection and guarding. That the armed forces have the capability to use force is a central part of the discourse, but the risks shown in international research is marginalized in the discourse.
