This essay aims to study which personality types primarily distinguish their interest in continued employment within the Armed Forces, as well as whether there are other clear motivating factors that can be clearly identified. This is investigated deductively through a qualitative interview study where the theory is used as a speaking partner. John L. Holland's RIASEC theory is used as a guiding framework, where the theory's six personality categories are used as a guide throughout the study. These categories form the basis of the study's interview questions and analysis tools. The results indicate that there are at least two clear personality categories represented by those seeking employment in the Armed Forces. In addition to these categories, additional motivating factors are identified that increase the understanding of what drives these individuals towards a military professional career.
