The aim of the study is to explore the levels of trust towards different actors involved in crisismanagement, such as international aid, the government, the community and oneself, and how thisrelates to the level of household emergency preparedness. This is of interest in order to discuss theperceived role of the private citizen in DRR, enabling further exploration on how responsibilityshould be divided optimally between the actors of DRR governance. The contribution to thisdiscussion is made through a micro-ethnography regarding water security, answering the question:”What role does the public’s trust towards DRR governance actors play in local water emergencypreparedness in Navoci, Fiji?”. This minor field study was partly funded by a scholarship from theSwedish International Development Cooperation Agency, SIDA, and supported by the SwedishDefence University, as part of a bachelor program.
