Abstract [en]
This thesis investigates into the figure of the cyber soldier from the theoretical concepts of embodiment and gender performativity. With an aim of investigating how this new soldier category is made intelligible as being a military body and how it relates to traditional soldierly stereotypes, a textual and visual discourse analysis is applied. While the representation of the cyber soldier breaks from the stereotypical soldierly figure in many ways, it is concluded that it is the use of familiar military discourses and symbols that infuse the figure of the cyber soldier with its military meaning, and is therefore through the use of these symbolic representations that the cyber soldier is brought into being.
