This thesis examines operation Mercury which was the code name of the German invasion of Crete 1941 form a logistic perspective. The theoretical framework used for the analysis is based on Moshe Kress theory on operational logistics. This research has been conducted on the basis that the understanding and impact of logistics in military operations is underexamined in the science field. A logistic perspective of the German operation has also been found to be missing in the literature. The study is based on four written accounts of the battle and is conducted as a single case study. The result of the analysis show that logistics has an important impact on operational planning and that neglect of the logistical perspective may cause negative effects on the outcome of military operations. More specifically this thesis also demonstrates how the logistics affected the German planning and outcome of the operation.
