Over a 6-year period, the Egyptians and the Israelis twice faced each other in direct war. The Six Day war was a complete success for the Israelis, however 6 years later Egypt had improved their military performance drastically and they had nearly defeated the Israeli armed forces within 48 hours of opening the battle. How are two different outcomes possible between these two parties facing each other, in a short period of time?
Previous research on the topic had showed that no single factor could explain the improvement Egypt showed during the October War -73.
The purpose of this study is to show whether Egypt had a learning military organization during this period and therefore made enough of an improvement by the second encounter against Israel.
This study showed that the organization had a learning process after the Six Day War which was one reason for the initial success during the October War, but it is not enough to explain the complete result of the second encounter.
