The purpose is to investigate whether, and if so, show how, Galulas theories have influenced the USAF COIN doctrine and in particular to raise and discuss air operations in this context.
In this essay I have conducted a comparative study between the USAF COIN doctrine and Galulas theories, responded to the purpose given above. I have divided this essay into two parts. In the first part I will explain the guerrilla warfare, counterinsurgency warfare, Galulas theories and USAF COIN doctrine. In the second part is a comparison between the two publications.
The result of the study indicates some obvious similarities. Which shows that the authors of the doctrine probably have been influenced by Galulas theories.
